Abstract Technologies

After graduating from high school in 2000 a few of my friends started a company called Abstract Technologies leasing an office in an industrial park in Richmond.

Abstract had 3 areas of business.

1. A Network of Websites

Conceptualizing, building, maintaining and promoting over a dozen websites supported by advertising revenue dependant on high daily traffic.

2. Web Design Contracts

Working on websites for large and small clients on a contract by contract basis requiring close contact with client companies.

3. Security Software

Our top programmer was a security expert who was developing several pieces of software to find, diagnose and repair network security problems. The software was actually designed as a cross platform server side application with a web based interface.

My work on Abstract as Creative Director meant I worked with clients on the look of their websites, designed graphics, animations and advertisement for our own websites and worked on branding and interface for our security products.

After the dot-com bubble burst Abstract's most reliable revenue stream (ad revenue) shrank necessitating the eventual break-up of the company.
